Monogamy traps my spirit,
makes me think I can't love
past one person.
Any other romantic or sexual urge
I have is wrong
and must be suppressed.
Shut it down so I don't challenge
my partner's feelings of absolute
uniqueness.
Like they are the only one
I can love right now. I love you.
I also want to kiss them.
Restricting my love to one person
until they overflow.
Then my love gets messy. No one
person can contain all my love.
We'd surprise ourselves by how much
love we can produce. In fact, that's all
we are.
Monogamy supposes any sexual
relationship more than a primary
relationship disrespects the sanctity
of the 'primary'. The first and the special.
Spreading sex out far and wide
celebrates pleasure and playfulness.
~By snuggling, we are reenacting how it felt to be warm
and completely safe in our caretaker's arms.
I wish everyone was as fortunate as me~
Monogamy invites codependency.
I have to rely on one person
to deliver all my needs.
That's a lot of pressure on one person.
If I reach out to another person
I'm 'cheating' on the other.
Well, I refuse to trap myself
in a singular heart.
